I’ve always loved working with fiber-macramé, knitting, and eventually, needlepoint. When I discovered needlepoint, I knew I had found my happy place.
Originally from New Zealand, I moved to California in 1998. After becoming a stay-at-home mom, I felt isolated and overwhelmed in a new country. One day, I walked into a needlepoint store and fell in love with the beautiful hand-painted canvases, but there was a problem: they didn’t sell kits. The process seemed complicated, and I didn’t know where to begin. That’s when the idea hit me: Why not make it easier for others to get started?
I began importing needlepoint kits to make it accessible and simple for people like me. My passion grew, and I soon built my own needlepoint business.
Poppy Monk is about creating affordable, beautiful needlepoint kits for all skill levels. My goal is to make needlepoint fun, relaxing, and accessible. Every kit is filled with luxurious silks, clear instructions, and fresh designs—all carefully crafted in the USA.
What started as a way to ease my loneliness in a new country has turned into a thriving business. Through Poppy Monk, I’m able to share my love for needlepoint with others and create a space where everyone can unwind with needle and thread. I am so grateful to everyone who has joined our Poppy Monk community. It’s not just about the kits, it’s about the connections we’ve built, the shared experiences, and the joy we get from creating something beautiful together.
