How To Open A Skein of Needlepoint Thread
A skein is the term given for a bundle of needlepoint thread. It will look something like this:

To open the thread and create lengths of stitchable yarn, follow these steps:
1. Remove the label by sliding it off.
It is good practice to keep the label and thread any leftover yarns back through it for identification and safekeeping.
2. Find the joining yarn holding the two ends together.
Snip through this joining thread.

3. You will now have a circle.
Find the tie that holds the threads together.

Snip through this tie and then cut the long length of threads in half.

You will now have two lengths of thread, approximately 18 inches each.

Store your leftover thread by feeding it back through the label.
