Stitch Guide for Midnight Garden

First sort your threads so you know what colors go where. Use the key down the side of the canvas to help with this. These are the threads that should be included in your kit, in order that they appear on the key. Please note, from time to time we need to make substitutions based on thread availability.

French Knots:

We did these as surface embroidery over the underlying Upright Cross stitches. Bring the needle up and down in the same hole for a tight knot. We also placed French knots on the bottom blue flower sepals. Here is a video on How to make a French Knot in needlepoint.

Leaf:

The orange leaves were free-stitched. We brought stitches of varying lengths into the center of the leaf  (following the shape of the leaf) to form a center line. We then placed a long stitch down this center line.

Chain Stitch:

The green stems use a green metallic. The stems are back-stitched and each leaf is a single chain stitch. (The diagram shows a line of chain stitches).
