Needlepoint Stitch Guide for Peace Dove
STITCHES USED ON THIS MODEL:
We recommend stitching the detail first and the background last. Perhaps start with the yellow letters. You can anchor your thread using an away knot in the adjacent blue area that you can then snip off when you stitch this area.
Red Background—Skip Tent stitch:
This is a regular needlepoint stitch, but every other hole is skipped.
Paler Blue Dove Body—Nobuko:
Darker Blue Dove Body—Upright Cross stitch:
This stitch is tightly packed and is best stitched in diagonal rows as shown.
Flower Stems and Lines on Dove Wings—Wrapped Back stitch:
This was stitched as surface embroidery over the underlying Tent stitches.
The pale green leaves are long stitches that are free-stitched to follow the angle of the leaves. All the other stitches are tent stitches.
