Needlepoint Stitch Guide for Reindeer Ornament
Use the threads single-ply, just as they come except for the cotton floss (see instructions below).
Background—Skip Tent stitch
This is a normal Tent stitch but you only stitch every other hole and it forms this pretty pattern.
Antlers—Diagonal Mosaic Stitch:
Main Body and Ears:
Continental stitch that goes up 2 holes and over 2 holes. The ear stotches slope up and to the right and the body stitches slope up and to the left.
Breast and part of the face—Upright Cross stitch:
Nose—Rhodes Circle stitch:
Inner Ears and Cheek—Satin stitches:
These are parallel stitches of any length to fit the space.
Spots—French knots:
French knots are best learnt by video.
Eyes and Eyelashes—Backstitch
Use 2 plies of the 6-ply cotton stitch these over the underlying stitches.
