Needlepoint Stitch Guide for Snowy Evening Fox

Snowy Evening Fox in needlepoint
Your needlepoint kit contains silk threads and cottons. Do not split any of the threads (use them as a single strand) except for the black DMC cotton which can be used in any thickness you like (more about that later).

Fox Tail—Encroaching Gobelin:

The diagram illustrates this stitched over four intersections. We stitched the model over 3 intersections, making it a slightly smaller stitch.

Background—Skip Tent:

We recommend stitching this last, after you have stitched all the details.

The black outlines on the trees and fox are stitched as surface embroidery (on top of the underlying stitches) using the black cotton floss 310. Thin the thread to your desired thickness—we recommend using 3 of the 6 plies. Make long stitches and use the diagram as a guide to stitch placement.

All the other stitches are Tent stitches (Continental or Basketweave).
