Needlepoint Stitch Guide for Vase of Flowers

Stitches used on this model
Background—Alternating Cashmere:
The best way to work this stitch is in rows. Start at the right and work a portrait Cashmere stitch. Move left and work a landscape Cashmere stitch and so on. Work rows back and forth in this manner. Fill in the cross stitches and compensating stitches at the end.

Smaller Petals—Alternating Mosaic:
We used the white thread for these smaller petals. Work this stitch in horizontal rows back and forth.

Larger Petals—Mosaic Checker stitch:
We used white thread for the Mosaic stitches and the flesh colored thread for the intervening Tent stitches.

Upper Blue Flower—Interlocking Gobelin:
You could use this on all the blue flowers where we have used a Tent stitch.

The orange band on the vase are Satin stitches (parallel long stitches to fit the space). All the other stitches are Tent stitches.
