Needlepoint is the opposite of fast fashion. It is slow, intentional, and personal. When you spend weeks or months bringing a canvas to life, you aren't just making a decoration. You are crafting a future heirloom.
At Poppy Monk, we believe that if you are going to invest that much heart into a project, the materials should be worthy of your time. We don't cut corners because we want your finished piece to look beautiful today and remain pristine for generations to come.
Here is how we ensure that quality.

The Foundation: Why We Choose Zweigart
If you have ever stitched on a flimsy canvas, you know the frustration of warped grids and snagged threads. We refuse to compromise on the foundation of your art.
We exclusively use canvas from Zweigart, a historic German manufacturer that has set the global standard for needlework since 1877. This isn't just about brand recognition; it's about engineering. Zweigart provides a crisp, polished surface that protects your thread and ensures your final stitches look neat, uniform, and professional. -
The Finish: Premium Silk Threads
To complement a superior canvas, we include premium threads in every kit. Most of our kits contain boutique silk or silk/wool blend threads.
Silk offers a luminous quality that catches the light and adds depth to your work. It glides through the canvas with less friction, making the stitching process smoother and more relaxing. Most importantly, high-quality silk is durable. It ensures your colors won't fade over the years.
We also use 100% merino wool in some of our larger mesh designs. Wool is easy to stitch with, strong, and conceals stitching flaws; so it's a great medium for beginners.

FAQs
Why does it cost this much?
Poppy Monk kits are designed for stitchers who value quality, longevity, and finish. We invest in premium materials, original artwork, careful production, and thoughtful curation so your finished piece looks refined, lasts for years, and feels worth the time you put into stitching it.
What makes Poppy Monk materials different?
Every component in a Poppy Monk kit is chosen for performance and finish. From high-quality canvases with clean edges to rich, colour-fast threads and precise charts, our materials are selected to support beautiful stitching and heirloom-level results.
Are these kits suitable for beginners?
These kits are best suited to intermediate and advanced stitchers who value precision and finish. Beginners with patience and an interest in learning more advanced techniques are welcome.
What does “heirloom quality” mean in practice?
Heirloom quality means your finished piece holds up over time, in structure, colour, and craftsmanship. These are projects designed to be framed, gifted, or passed on, not just stitched and forgotten.
Are the designs exclusive to Poppy Monk?
Yes. All Poppy Monk designs are original and created specifically for our kits. We do not license mass-produced patterns or reuse generic artwork. This ensures your finished piece feels distinctive and thoughtfully designed.
How does quality affect the stitching experience?
Better materials stitch more smoothly, hold tension consistently, and reduce frustration. Many customers tell us they notice the difference, especially in how the canvas behaves and how the colours sit once stitched.
