Needlepoint Stitch Guide For Gnome

This super-cute 4" x 4" design has a charming stitch guide with some uncommon stitches. Enjoy!

You can stitch this design in any order, but we recommend stitching the background last.
Use the threads as a single strand, just as they come.
Beard: This is a unique stitch of parallel repeating columns of Tent stitches and French knots. Stitch the Tent stitch columns and then fill in with the French knot columns. The French knots come up in one hole and down in the hole below (or above if working up the column).
Pompom: These are French knots wrapped three times (you can do two if you prefer smaller knots). Finish each knot in an adjacent hole.
Background: This is a Snow stitch variation with French knots between the "snowflakes". Once again, each French knot is finished in an adjacent hole above or below.
Black Line on Hat: We used a Wrapped Backstitch as surface embroidery over the underlying stitches.
